2026 STEM Summer Scholars Institute
June 7 – August 1, 2026
To be considered for the 2026 Summer Scholars Institute, a completed application, and supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline of January 16th, 2026, by 11:59 pm.
Students will look over lab descriptions and apply for the professor that best fit their interests and experience. Lab descriptions for summer 2026 are still being added to the website, and should be uploaded by early November. Please do NOT apply until all lab descriptions have been uploaded for 2026 and you have chosen one that you are most qualified for. Lab descriptions will be uploaded to "IU Faculty Members" on the left hand side of this webpage.
Application and supporting materials:
- A completed online application form with all uploads (APPLY HERE)
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty who are familiar with your interests (recommenders will send their letters to stem@iu.edu)
To be eligible for the 2026 STEM Summer Scholars Institute, you must:
- be currently enrolled in a Minority Serving Institute (HBCU, TCU, HSI, etc.)
- International students currently enrolled at a U.S. institution may apply
- be a rising junior or senior
- have a minimum GPA of 3.0
